How to make biscuit cake
Step 1: Crush the biscuits
- Take the biscuits and break each one into small pieces.
- Since we have to crush the biscuits, you can either do it by grinding them in the mixer or by using a zip-lock bag and crushing them with a rolling pin.
- After crushing the biscuits into powder, the texture should be fine and there should not be any big pieces of biscuits.

Step 2: Preparing the batter
- Now take all the crushed biscuits and put this mixture into a bowl.
- Now start by adding milk slowly little by little and keep mixing it continuously. Then add melted chocolate or cocoa powder to the batter and mix it well until it forms a smooth batter.
- Also make sure not to have any lumps in the batter.
- The consistency and texture of the batter should not be too thick or too runny and watery.
- You can also add small biscuit pieces in the batter to get those perfect crunchy bites.
- Lastly, add baking powder to the batter and mix everything gently.

Step 3: Prepare the mould
- For the moulding, take a cake tin or a bowl and grease it with oil or butter on all the sides.
- Pour the prepared batter into the bowl and tap it on the counter to remove any air bubbles present in the batter.

Step 4: Cooking the cake
You can choose either of the methods to cook the cake. I have mentioned all the possible ways you can do this.
Cooker Method: For this method, first you have to preheat a cooker without a whistle for 5 minutes. Then place a stand inside the cooker and keep the cake mould on it. Close it with a lid and let it cook on low flame for about 25-30 minutes. Then you can check if the cake is ready or not by inserting a toothpick.
Microwave Method: In this method, you have to simply place the cake bowl in the microwave and cook it on high temperature for around 5 minutes. The cooking time might vary slightly depending on the type of your microwave.
Oven Method: In this method, you have to preheat the oven at 180°C temperature. Then place the mould inside it and bake it for about 20-25 minutes. You can check if the cake’s ready or not by inserting a toothpick in the center of it.
For the decoration of the surface layer, you can add a chocolatey layer on it and a few crumbs for biscuits. You may also add a few nuts for the perfect finishing touch.
How to know if the cake is ready
Here are a few simple ways to check if your cake is ready or not.
- Insert a toothpick or a knife into the center of the cake. If the toothpick or knife comes out clean without any batter sticking to it, it means the cake is ready. If you see wet batter sticking to it, it needs more time to cook.
- The top surface of the cake should no longer look shiny or wet like the batter. It must look firm and cooked properly. You may also notice a few cracks on the top of the cake which is normal.
- The final way is by gently pressing the top of the cake with your finger. If the cake springs back softly it means the cake is ready and cooked. If it still feels wet or sinks in, it needs to be cooked more.
Things to keep in mind
- The biscuits must be crushed properly into powder. If the biscuit crumbs are too coarse and have big pieces, the batter will not be smooth and this eventually results in a bad, uneven texture of cake.
- Avoid adding too much or too little milk. If the batter is mixed too thick, the cake will turn dense and if it is too thin, there are chances the cake may not set properly during cooking.
- Do not add too much baking powder in the batter. Doing so can give a bitter taste and affect the texture of the cake.
- Never cook the cake on high heat. If the cake is cooked on high heat, the outside will cook quickly but the inside remains uncooked. Always cook on medium or low flame.
- Leaving the cake for too long inside the cooker or microwave can make it dry and hard. Once there are signs that it is cooked properly, remove it and check using a toothpick to avoid overcooking.
